The Town of Collierville is hiring for an Athletic Crew member to join our Grounds and Parks Maintenance Team! If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in your community, look no further!

What’s The Role?
Working as an Athletic Crew member, you can expect to perform various athletic field maintenance that includes dragging/raking infields, chalking, lining and painting various sports fields according to specific dimensions, and setting baseball fields; adding infield mix and inspecting fields; aerifying and topdressing of fields; perform fence repair, operate mowers to maintain fields, edge sidewalks, and maintain landscaped areas; mulch leaves; spread pine straw, mulch, sand, gravel, or other grounds materials; lay sod or spread grass seed; apply fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide; blow leaves/debris from walkways or grounds; pick up and dispose of debris/litter from ground areas; empty trash containers; clean and service concession stands and restrooms; shovel materials and apply paint to numerous items and structures. You will also assist with setup/breakdown for special events and activities; install holiday decorations; lift/move equipment, outdoor furniture, and heavy materials; load, transport, and unload event materials. Some weekend work may be required on an occasional basis.

Primary Function:
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled outdoor work functions related to ensuring Parks and Recreation athletic fields are in top quality condition. Duties are responsibilities include preparing sports fields for practice and games and carrying out a year-round sports field maintenance program.

Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or GED; attention to detail and knowledge of athletic activities and maintenance/repair of athletic field is preferred; previous experience and/or training in landscape maintenance and/or general maintenance work in area of assignment or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

Special Requisites:
May require occasional weekend work.

Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Notes:
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
