Position: Athletic Facilities and Grounds Manager
Hours/Times/Calendar: 7.5 Hrs. Day /261 Days
Effective: Immediately
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Management, School Facilities Management, or equivalent preferred
- Certification from professional facilities/turf management organization preferred
- Certification as National Certified Playground Safety Inspector preferred
- Ability to obtain or possess a commercial driver’s license
- Certification in pesticide application and experience in IPM Plan management
- General knowledge of construction processes – ability to read and understand architectural documents including blueprints
- Experience with building security and safety procedures
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and HVAC equipment and systems
- Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to problem solve and work independently
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recommends comprehensive short and long range strategic planning for athletic facilities and sites
- Responsible for maintenance and care of athletic facilities and sites: field preparation, turf management, irrigation, drainage, safety and playability checks, weather readiness and recovery, and facility and equipment oversight.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal safety and facility legal requirements
- Establishes and administers staff work schedules and procedures for the regular ongoing custodial care and maintenance of athletic facilities and sites
- Inspects all school buildings grounds and playgrounds on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained
- Manages staff to ensure timely outdoor athletic facility set-up and breakdown, including furniture, equipment, food/beverages
- Assists with management of vendors for various services such as lawn maintenance, salting and snow removal
- Responsible for fertilizer application and weed control management in collaboration with Facilities & Operations Director
- Responsible for winter snow removal on operations bus lot and salting on all district parking lots
- Develops strategies to increase effectiveness and enhance efficiencies of athletic sites and facilities
- Ensures preventative maintenance of outdoor athletic equipment and facilities on an ongoing basis, making recommendations for replacement and/or repair of facilities
- Serves as technical advisor to Facilities & Operations Director on all athletic facility and site issues
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities as set forth by District administration
