Head Groundskeeper @ Joe Bruno Stadium $20-30 Hr.

Here’s what you’d do:
Head Groundskeeper will have chemical fertilization or pesticide industry experience to work with our commercial customers. The ideal applicant will be a self-starter and have a stable work history.
You’d be responsible for:
- Organize, coordinate and participate in grounds keeping functions, including mowing, fertilizing, seeding, planting, sodding, edging, pruning, weeding, trimming, aerating and watering; maintaining all plants, bushes and sod; equipment operation, including tractors, UTVs, powered mowers, both riding and walk-behind and other powered equipment such as, hedge-trimmers, powered edger and various hand tools.
- Provide overall supervision of cleaning, servicing, and minor repairs of facilities and equipment. Ensure that equipment is cleaned and serviced, including greasing, fueling, and sharpening of blades. Assist in minor repairs of vehicles and equipment. Maintain a clean and organized shop.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the grounds department, provide overall supervision of grounds staff workers, to include issuing and enforcing directives and work orders, authorizing changes to assignments and normal operating procedures, and overtime.
- Prepares natural turf athletic fields by lining and chalking baseball and softball fields, re-grooming/ re-building (when necessary) pitchers mount (including clay repairs), making soil amendments, dragging and grooming infield areas, inspecting and maintaining proper playing field levels to minimize lips, inspecting/maintaining warning track and applying appropriate materials when needed.
OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work schedule.
- A working knowledge of basic grounds keeping and landscaping operations and techniques.
- Knowledge of basic management techniques for effectively supervising others.
- Ability to safely and effective transport, which may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, and utilize materials and equipment used in grounds keeping and facility servicing, and maintenance, servicing and repairing equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and to work other-than-normal, and, at times, long hours.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of members of the campus community, especially field house personnel whose activities may be profoundly affected by the timing and quality of work performed, particular regarding playing and practice fields.
- Ensure safe practices for all grounds crew members, including but not limited to enforcing the safe operation of vehicles and machinery, proper housekeeping measures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and being able to identify and remedy potential hazards.
- Knowledge of required care for athletic fields, including practice fields, baseball fields, softball fields
- Ability to participate in personnel management decisions which include hiring, disciplinary actions, annual performance evaluations, and other managerial duties.
