Assistant Manager of Field Operations (Full-Time Salaried)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Job Description: The Charlotte Knights, AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, are seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Manager of Field Operations. This is a full-time salaried position. Applicants should be able to work well with others in a professional baseball environment while representing the Charlotte Knights to the highest standards.
Ideal applicants should have recently completed either a 2- or 4-year turf degree program, or have equivalent work experience in the turf industry, preferably at the collegiate or professional baseball levels.
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Working in conjunction with Director of Field Operations and Manager of Field Operations to execute all functions of the Sports Turf Management Department.
- Daily infield skin maintenance, mound/plate clay repairs
- Mowing, Aeration, Verti-cutting, Topdressing, Edge Maintenance
- Batting Practice set up and breakdown.
- Fertilization and Pesticide applications and associated record keeping
- Assisting with tarp pulls
- Warning track maintenance
- Assist in hiring, scheduling, and managing part-time seasonal employees.
- Assisting with daily equipment upkeep and maintenance
- Ability to safely operate equipment associated with sports turf maintenance practices.
- Other duties as assigned including but not limited to facilitating Stadium Operations Department and Special Events Department pertaining to on field activities.
Requirements:
- Must be able to repetitively lift and carry 50lbs.
- Required to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as directed.
- Ability to work in stressful situations and adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Ability to relocate to Charlotte, North Carolina
Benefits/Compensation:
- Health, dental, 401K, paid vacation, paid parking
- Anticipated higher range $45,000 – $50,000/year.
