Performs parks maintenance and inspection functions and acts as the assistant to the crew supervisor. Prepares and maintains the ball fields; maintains trails; maintains parks and park equipment; supervises and trains community services crews, inmate crews, and seasonal employees; manages turfs and landscapes; recommends supplies to be ordered; performs irrigation work; monitors staff vehicles and equipment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Education and Experience
High School or GED and one to three years’ related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above
Certifications/Licenses
Job Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. Complete comprehension of the subject area to solve common and unusual problems, able to advise on technical matters, and serve as a resource on the subject for others.
Reading
Basic: Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words.
Writing
Basic: Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Math
Basic: Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed outdoors where there is daily exposure to respiratory and physical hazards, extreme temperatures, noise and vibration, and wetness/humidity. There is frequent exposure to mechanical hazards and to physical danger or abuse. There is occasional exposure to chemical and electrical hazards. There is rare exposure to fire hazards, explosives, and communicable diseases.
The employee is expected to use appropriate protective equipment for the assigned task (hearing and eye protection, hard hat, safety vest, steel toe shoes, etc.); and any other equipment as apparent or assigned.
