Chemical Spray Technician

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of City parks operations including those associated with the chemical spray applications.

Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs general chemical spray maintenance of the City’s facilities, including but not limited to turf grass, trees, and plant material
  • Manages inventory of herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, and any other chemicals necessary
  • Calibrates all spray equipment
  • Reads and interprets labels, application rates, and Safety Data Sheets
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with all State, County, and Federal regulations
  • Ensures the renovation and preventive maintenance programs are completed on schedule
  • Communicates effectively with staff to ensure a cooperative team approach to projects
  • Ensures safe and efficient working order of equipment
  • Performs regular inspections of equipment
  • Operates a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
  • Evaluates the status of mechanical equipment and schedules needing repairs
  • Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies used for chemical spray maintenance
  • Assists in the preparation of bid specifications for chemical spray maintenance equipment
  • Maintains records and prepares reports
  • Enforces City Rules and regulations
  • Prepares estimates of labor, material, and equipment needs upon request
  • Makes routine purchases
  • Works within budgetary limitations
  • Performs emergency operations as required
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
  • Document work in approved work order software; log hours in daily work orders and special projects
