Community Parks Superintendent

This position supervises the three Community Parks; Pioneer, Rio Vista and Paloma. The purpose of this position is to oversee field operations in athletic field maintenance, playground safety, lake management, and associated facilities. Duties including administrative tasks, safety compliance, turfgrass/landscape management and project coordination. Collaboration is required in budgeting, supply inventory, purchasing processes, report creation and monitoring field standards. This role is directly responsible for equipment management, chemical storage compliance, irrigation system oversight, and athletic field management.

The person in this position will:

  • Executes budget priorities with emphasis on staff supervision, water management, equipment and chemical supplies.
  • Contributes to monthly supervisor reports.
  • Supervises multiple staff direct reports ensuring operational responsibilities in field preparations are met.
  • Coordinates agronomic and reconditioning maintenance calendar with department.
  • Performs laser leveling, overseeding, field re-conditioning and other seasonal turf care practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as agriculture/horticulture, turfgrass management, recreation, etc.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years related experience. Requires a broad knowledge of field maintenance administration, specialized practices, maintenance equipment, workflow systems and procedures.
  • Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements:
    • Certified Playground Safety Inspector within 6 months of hire
    • Pesticide/Herbicide Applicators License within 6 months of hire
    • Valid Driver’s License upon hire.

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(s):

  • Three years supervisory experience
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting
