Field Operations Assistant

The Hartford Yard Goats, the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to join our Field Crew as a Field Operations Assistant. The Field Operations Assistant is a full-time position and responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance practices for the field. This position, under the direction of the Field Operations Manager, will also work closely with the Events and Operations department to fulfill the needs of all events and activities at Dunkin’ Park throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the upkeep, daily maintenance, repair and preparation of playing surface for all Hartford Yard Goats home games, including but not limited to high school and college baseball and “non-baseball” events.  This includes; mowing, edging, sodding, aerification and topdressing, irrigation repair and maintenance, clay work, infield skin maintenance, fertilizer application and calibration, landscape maintenance around ballpark.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of game-day employees.
  • Assist in monitoring of product inventory and help coordinate material needs.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing tarp procedures before, during, and after inclement weather.
  • Equipment Management: Insure safe use of all equipment as well as handling maintenance requests.
  • Stadium and event operations, as needed, during the off-season and winter months. Including assisting with snow removal.
  • Other tasks provided by Hartford Yard Goat’s management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working in baseball, golf, or any sports turf fields.
  • Bachelors Degree or Certificate in Turfgrass Management preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires lifting of heavy equipment and material (up to 75 pounds), constant walking, some running throughout entire shift.
  • Able to work in fast pace environment and multi-task.
  • Show strong time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills. Work with all departments within the organization.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including home games, special events, nights, weekends and holidays.

The hourly rate for this position is a minimum of $18.00 per hour. This position is classified as Non-Exempt from the provisions of State and Federal wage laws, which means that you will be paid overtime for all hours actually worked in excess of 40 hour in a given week. Additionally, your position is bonus eligible, but note that bonus compensation is not guaranteed and is provided at the Company’s sole discretion. In addition to your cash compensation, you will be eligible to participate in the Company’s group, medical, dental, vision and life insurance plans, as well as the 401(k) retirement plan, inclusive of a discretionary matching Company contributions program. You will also be provided with paid vacation (PTO) and paid company holiday time off.
