The Assistant Groundskeeper answers directly to the Head Groundskeeper and is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of the playing surface and providing a field that complies with the specifications, high quality and safety standards, set forth by Major League baseball. The club is looking for a recent graduate and/or an experienced turf assistant looking to build their expertise in athletic field management, specifically within the baseball industry.

Job Duties:
All applicants should be able to work in a fast-paced professional environment. Applicants are expected to possess the necessary skills to carry out daily tasks while working both independently and with others on a professional baseball field, while representing the Lansing Lugnuts and Minor League Baseball to the highest standards.

Qualifications:

• Candidates graduated from a 2- or 4-year Turf Program is preferred, but not necessary.
• Prior knowledge and experience of working on a baseball field is also preferred.
• The individual must be highly motivated, self-initiative and able to work in fast-paced situations as well as be able and willing to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to work long, flexible hours which will include mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Work in various weather conditions
• Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
