Grounds Crew Member
The grounds crew member is responsible for performing tasks associated with daily maintenance of athletic fields and surrounding landscapes, maintenance of other campus landscapes, irrigation maintenance and repair, annual flower and new landscape plant installation, trash/debris pickup, special event preparation and setup and breakdown, and other duties as assigned by the Marist Campus Planning and Operations department. Requirements:
- Minimum of five years experience in the athletic turf or landscape maintenance industries and/or minimum associate degree or technical school certification in horticulture/turfgrass/landscape Management.
- Ability to efficiently operate power equipment and tools associated with the performance of grounds maintenance and installation tasks. (Ex: mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, tractors and implements, golf carts, utility vehicles, backpack sprayers, shovels, rakes, mechanic’s tools, etc.)
- Working knowledge of small engine maintenance and repair
- Familiar with athletic field maintenance and game day preparation
- Ability to lift more than fifty pounds
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, dust, rain, snow, and ice.
Preferred Skills:
- Athletic turf management experience
- Ability to operate front-end loader/forklift
- Pesticide/fertilizer application with commercial equipment
- Ability to operate and maintain reel mowers
- Baseball/ softball infield dirt maintenance and clay repair
- Commercial irrigation repair and maintenance
- Prior experience with school campus grounds maintenance
