Facility Overview:
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation department is looking to add an integral member to their team! We are currently looking to hire an Athletic Turf Internship for the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex and American Legion Memorial Stadium. The Sportsplex has 9 synthetic turf fields, two grass fields and a 5,000 capacity grass stadium which won SFMA Field of the Year honors in 2022 and 2023. American Legion Memorial Stadium is a 10,000 capacity synthetic turf stadium.

Position Overview:
This position will work at both complexes and will gain experience with natural turf fields, synthetic turf fields, and stadium and special event operations. This position will work alongside the Sports Field and Grounds Manager and will be responsible for assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of both facilities. The start and finish dates are negotiable based on candidate’s availability.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Mow fields
• Apply fertilizer and pesticides to fields
• Paint, set-up fields
• Maintain synthetic turf fields
• Aerate, top-dress, and verti-cut fields
• Maintain and operate irrigation system
• Assist with stadium conversions

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a college or graduate degree in Turf Grass Management of related field.
• Work experience in sports turf management.
