Position Summary:
The position of Grounds Crew shall be responsible for performing field and landscape maintenance work at Marlins Ballpark. Under direction from the Manager Grounds and Supervisor Grounds, this position will be responsible for the execution of field and landscape maintenance tasks in order to ensure a safe and presentable natural grass playing surface that achieves the high standards of Major League Baseball.
Essential Functions:
- Perform duties such as mowing, repair of clay areas, including mound and home plate after each use.
- Monitor local weather and assist with tarp duties.
- Perform basic care and maintenance of field equipment.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
- Setup baseball activity and field conversions for non-baseball events.
- Perform assigned duties for non-baseball activities involving the playing field.
- Assist with re-sodding worn areas of playing field.
- Responsible for mowing, re-mulching and other duties in order to maintain exterior landscaping.
- Required to work extended hours, weekends, holidays according to baseball schedule.
- Paint logos, lines and field designs as required.
- Assist Director of Grounds and Assistant Groundskeeper with off-season projects and events
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- The position requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
- Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is involved
- Specific vision abilities are required which include, close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary
- Must be able to work around dust, fumes and odors
Suggested Education & Experience Guidelines:
- The ideal candidates will possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Field/Turf Management or a related field.
- Candidate should have a background in managing turf and a diverse workforce at major public venues.
- A minimum of 3 years experience is desired in related position.
