Athletic Field Maintenance Technician II

Company: North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 16,000 players (ages 2.5-18) and their families each year. NCFC Youth offers 6 core programs to meet the different needs and skill levels of youth in our community, in addition to offering outreach programs, hosting tournaments, and providing camps and supplemental training throughout the year.

In collaboration with the professional North Carolina Football Club, NCFC Youth is the largest youth-to-professional club in the country. Since 1974, we have been living our mission of providing positive, high quality soccer opportunities at all levels of play for youth and their families and serving as a valuable community partner.

The Position: Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of skilled duties related to maintenance and upkeep of NCFC Fields, equipment and property. The Field Maintenance Technician II is directly responsible for the cleanliness and safety of all fields we utilize for games and training.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a front-line ambassador for members, guests and staff while providing a clean and safe environment
  • Remain in constant communication with Athletic Fields Superintendent
  • Perform minor repairs of all equipment used; for safety and efficiency purposes
  • Performs maintenance on soccer equipment (goals, fields, flags, etc.)
  • Paints fields for games and or events
  • Help maintain irrigation systems, fields (Turf and Grass), and all aspects of the fields we use for games and training
  • Work with supervisor to improve fields and locations used for training and games
  • Perform Park Rangers duties if coverage for the Park Rangers is needed
  • For tournaments, perform duties as assigned
  • Displays strong attention to detail

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of landscape and turf maintenance preferred
  • Must possess or acquire a pesticide license
  • Experienced in the use of power tools, machines, and heavy equipment
  • Able to adhere to OSHA safety requirements and standards

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Frequent contact with local citizens and other employees within the department, requiring tact and judgment
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must maintain professionalism in all manners while remaining flexible, yet dependable

Job Type Requirements:

  • Fulltime; hourly non-exempt position.
  • Typical work hours are 7:30am – 4:00pm, but it is expected that this individual will work as needed and put in extra hours fulfill all job requirements
  • Must have ability to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:

  • Job entails regular exposure to cold, heat, dust, fumes, and noise
  • Frequent lifting of up to 100 lbs.; frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and standing
  • Operates various types of light equipment (i.e. JD Gators, Golf Carts, etc.)
  • Operates various types of Heavy equipment (i.e. Tractors, Mowers, Trucks and Trailers, etc.)
  • Operates various types of power tools such as Drills, saws, air compressors, etc.
