Title: Assistant Sports Field Manager

Reports to: Sports Facility Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The assistant sports field manager reports directly to the head sports field manager. Under his/her supervision, the assistant sports field manager oversees and participates in the maintenance of soccer fields and related work as required at the Players Development Academy (PDA). This person will also participate in the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with maintenance of natural grass and synthetic fields at PDA’s facilities – including but not limited to PDA’s trainings, home matches and tournaments.
- Take part in the operation and care of mowing and other equipment and/or operates mowing and other equipment; performs chemical applications and/or operates and calibrates chemical application equipment; supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
- Assist in field layout and painting incorporating the use of a semi-autonomous GPS driven paint line marking robot and other line painting machines.
- Completes preventive maintenance on various pieces of equipment and ensure all equipment remains in working and operational condition.
- Repair and maintain exterior grounds (in conjunction with landscaping services), including snow and ice removal.
- Perform daily field maintenance and cleanup.
- Perform other duties assigned to support the PDA facilities.
- Oversee/Assist with the operations of multiple weekend soccer tournaments taking place throughout the season.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years relevant work experience in maintaining sports fields, golf courses or home lawn/landscape preferred.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented and deadline driven.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Hours are variable and will include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in various degrees of outdoor weather conditions, including but not limited to, extreme heat and cold or rain.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight during a workday.
- Ability to work in various positions, including but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
- Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide and fertilizer applicator within 12 months of hire
PLAYERS DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY SETTING:
Situated on 40+ acres in Somerset, NJ, PDA is a year-round “soccer-only” training facility with 20 natural grass, native soil (sandy loam) surfaces, 4 Musco-lighted fields, and 3 all-weather Field Turf synthetic fields.
Players Development Academy provides year-round soccer training that develops players to their greatest potential, focusing on top-quality instruction and exposure to the highest levels of competition. The Academy has boys team and girls’ team in each of the age groups including Under-9 through Under-19. Teams compete in premier leagues throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic states, and will participate in highly competitive tournaments nationwide. The goal is to offer players optimal opportunities to gain the recognition that will enable them to achieve continued success as athletes on the country’s top collegiate teams, United States national teams, and/or professional soccer teams.
