Built in 1996 in the beautiful Livermore Valley, Poppy Ridge Golf Course was the second course of the NCGA, serving as another tournament site and another home course for its members. Position: Greenskeeper
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Greenskeeper position is responsible for performing routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. This involves performing semi-skilled ground construction and maintenance work, operating small hand-powered equipment, and occasionally performing work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and large mowers. This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the golf course and does related work as required. This position will receive daily supervision and is expected to work collectively with other members of the Poppy Ridge maintenance team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain greens by blowing off any debris, fixing all ball marks on the greens, report all high plugs on the greens, report any damage or suspicious looking activity on the green, and hand mow greens.
• Maintaining bunkers by removing all debris prior to raking, remove all weeds as directed, rake sand towards the bunker edges so that the sand does not settle at the bottom of the bunker, ensure bunker lips are uniform according to our standards.
• Monitor bunker sand depth and adjust by adding or moving sand around the bunker to ensure proper depths and inform Superintendent and/or Assistant of necessary adjustments.
• Waters tees, and fairways, maintain clean and straight rope lines to redirect cart traffic around turf areas with issues.
• Helps with project work; assists in the construction of new golf course features.
• Assist with daily cleaning of the maintenance facility as assigned.
• May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment.
• Support and always promote safe work habits and a safe working environment.
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous landscaping maintenance experience, including ability to operate basic golf course maintenance equipment (blowers, weed wacker, shovels, etc.).
• Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions
• Strong customer service skills to maintain effective employee and membership relations.
• Valid California driver’s license
• Ability to move heavy objects (50 lbs max. per individual)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous working knowledge of the maintenance of an entire golf course; maintenance practices for quality turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees.

WORK SCHEDULE:

• Monday through Sunday, 5am to 1:30pm. Final schedule will be agreed upon with the supervisor.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position. This salary for this position will be $18.00-$21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Uniforms will be provided, with the employee expected to maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with premiums paid by the employee. Participation in the company’s 401k plan after one full year of employment. PTO, holidays, meals, and golf benefits also included.
