2024 Reno Aces Sports Turf Internship

The Reno Aces are searching for highly motivated, enthusiastic, focused individuals who are enrolled in a 2- or 4-year turf/horticultural program to join our team as a grounds crew intern. Greater Nevada Field is home to the Reno Aces Baseball Club, Triple A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Greater Nevada Field is located in the heart of Downtown Reno, which also hosts several non-sporting events that includes but is not limited to high school baseball games, high school soccer matches, weddings, corporate batting practices, concerts, etc.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Daily maintenance and upkeep of baseball grounds.
  – This includes but is not limited to mowing, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, irrigation repair and maintenance, hand watering, mound and home plate repair, bullpen mound repair, skin and baseline maintenance, warning track cleanup and prep, and tarp pulls.
• Assist in all aspects of turfgrass management at Greater Nevada Field, including the Front Entrance, Right Field Grass Berm and Baseball Mountain landscape.
• Assist in preparation for all Aces games and outside events
• Other tasks provided by the Head Groundskeeper.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Candidate must be self-motivated and interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry.
• Individual should have strong communication and people skills, a high attention to detail, and a tremendous desire to learn.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to perform labor intensive tasks
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Able to work long hours, some weekends and holidays
• Respect the privacy of players and coaches
• High School/GED or higher

Start and finish dates will be flexible based on availability.

This is a paid hourly internship ($15.75/hr) with time and a half pay for hours worked beyond 40 hours each week. Housing is not part of the compensation, but month to month, furnished apartments will be available for all stadium seasonals and interns at a discounted rate.
