Job Title: Seasonal Assistant, Field Operations
Duration: Mid-February through mid-November
Compensation:
- $16-17/hour with unlimited overtime
- Includes $1000 bonus at hiring to assist with relocation costs.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Salt Lake Bees, AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, are moving into a new ballpark in the spring of 2025 and are looking for a hard working and motivated individual looking to refine their skills in professional baseball. In addition to the Bees schedule and various extra events, the field operations crew will also be responsible for the University of Utah baseball program at Smith’s Ballpark until June 1st.
The hire will work in collaboration with the rest of the grounds crew in all aspects of maintaining the playing surface for the Salt Lake Bees, the University of Utah, and all other on-field events.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively assist in managing and training part-time employees in everyday tasks
- Assist with all day-to-day practices concerning the turf, skin, mound, plate, bullpens, warning track, fertilizer application, etc.
- Successfully operate machinery essential to promote proper field management such as rollers, plate compactors, carts, tractors, etc.
- Other duties as assigned based on the hire’s growth and proficiencies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in sports turf preferred, but not required.
- High level of motivation to learn and advance in the sports turf industry
- Ability to complete assigned duties in an efficient manner according to the standards set by the Director of Field Operations
- Ability to communicate effectively with Bees management, coaches, event staff, and coworkers
- Capability to work long hours during homestands, non-baseball events, holidays, etc.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in a physically active environment with periods of walking, standing, lifting, and running
