Position: The Somerset Patriots are hiring seasonal assistant groundskeepers to help with maintaining the playing field and grounds at TD Bank Ballpark for the 2026 season. Candidates should have an interest in working in sports turf, be reliable, and enjoy baseball. While candidates with prior grounds experience or education are preferred, we are willing to train the right person provided you are hardworking and motivated to learn. Qualified applicants will be asked to set up an in-person interview at TD Bank Ballpark.
Schedule: Employment runs from 3/9-11/6 and candidates must be available to work full-time hours during the season including nights, weekends, and holidays. Non-game day hours are typically M-F 8:30am-4:30pm and game days use rotating shifts to avoid excessive hours. Shift #1 is 8:30am-3:45pm and Shift #2 is 3:15pm-10:30pm. Times subject to change depending on the game time or weather conditions. Off days are scheduled after each homestand and vacation time is permitted during the summer when the team is on the road. Weekends without games or events are off.
Job Description: Assist head groundskeeper with maintaining the playing field and grounds including dragging the infield and warning track, mound and HP work, field painting, mowing, weeding, mulching, seeding, aerating, set up for batting practice / games, post-game field and dugout cleanup and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be willing to work in any weather condition including rain and heat and will assist with tarping the field during inclement weather. Training is provided on various grounds equipment including mowers, infield pro, utility vehicles, edgers, string trimmers, and leaf blowers.
Compensation: $16.42 / hr averaging 40 hrs / week
