Position: The Somerset Patriots are hiring summer interns to assist with maintaining the baseball field and grounds at TD Bank Ballpark for the 2026 season. The team is the AA affiliate of the NY Yankees and features a newly renovated Kentucky Bluegrass playing surface. The internship runs May-August with a flexible start/end date for students. Candidates should be enrolled in a turf management program or related degree and have an interest in working in professional sports. No experience is necessary provided you are willing to learn and work hard. Interviews will be conducted at TD Bank Ballpark. Past students have gone on to work for MiLB, MLB, and MLS clubs as well as area golf courses and municipal athletic fields.
Job Description: Assist with all aspects of grounds maintenance including infield dirt and clay work, logo painting, mowing, general landscaping, aeration, seeding, sod work, set up for batting practice/games, post-game field repair, bullpen/dugout cleanup and other duties as assigned. Training is provided on various grounds equipment including mowers, infield pro, edgers, trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles. Interns must be able to work in any weather condition and will assist with tarping the field during inclement weather.
Schedule: Interns will gain experience working both game and non-game days including nights, weekends, and some holidays depending on the game schedule. Students will work an average of 40 hrs. per week and days off are scheduled after each homestand. Vacations are permitted and encouraged when the team is away. Non-game day hours are typically M-F 8:30am-4:30pm and rotating shifts are used on game days to minimize excessive hours. Shift #1 is morning till BP and shift #2 is BP till end of game.
Compensation: $15.92 / hr. plus college credit where applicable
