Assistant Sports Field Supervisor

Summary
Principia is looking for an Assistant Sports Field Supervisor. In this role, you will assist in management of 15 acres of sand-based sports fields in both cool and warm seasons, snow removal, and general landscape. You’ll work in tandem with the Horticulture – Landscape Assistant Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with proper maintenance and upkeep of the school’s athletic fields and turf, 15 acres of sand-based sports fields, including 1 synthetic football field, and 1 wet field hockey field
  • Assist in preparation of an annual sports turf plan for the campus including maintenance, mowing, fertilization, herbicide and seeding programs
  • Assist in preparation of budget forecast for sports turf maintenance
  • Document and report on the maintenance activities for each sports field
  • Assist with the repairs and audits of irrigations systems
  • Responsible for the daily documentation and scouting of all sports turf and weekly reporting of conditions
  • Daily mowing of sports field with reel mowers
  • Assist with aerating, top-dressing, foliar and granular applications
  • Baseball field mound and plate clay repair and conditioning
  • Painting various sports field layouts using both robotic and airless painting machines
  • Process work orders through a web-based work request system
  • Clean parking lots, roads, school entrances, and play areas as necessary to maintain clean, well-kept and welcoming appearance free of debris
  • Assist in snow/ice storm preparations and removal
  • Assign daily/weekly task schedules for employees
  • Assist as needed with tree removal and maintenance of general landscape areas

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of experience maintaining both cool and warm season sports turf and landscape at a high level
  • Experience with fertilization, aeration, mowing, irrigation, top dressing, etc. to achieve a high-level playing surface
  • Experience with synthetic field maintenance on both infill and padded fields
  • Experience in tree removal, stump grinding, and proficient with skid steers, sprayers, reel mowers, tractors, and large area mowers
  • Experience in the evaluation of turf and plant conditions for diseases, pests, and overall health
  • Experience in applying foliar fertilizers, fungicides, and selective herbicides to maintain high quality sports fields
  • Experience in maintaining football, baseball, softball, and soccer fields required by Athletics within budget
  • Must obtain a Missouri pesticide applicator license within 6 months of employment (or hold a current license)
  • Possess a valid, infraction-free driver’s license
  • Must pass a physical examination and drug test with no physical limitations on bending, stooping, climbing, walking and lifting
  • Able to lift 50 pounds safely and efficiently
