Summary:
The Turf Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in turf management duties primarily for Sportsman’s Park, which is adjacent to State Farm Stadium and is used for pre-game festivities, tailgating, concerts, festivals, weddings, graduations, corporate events, and other related experiences. Sportsman’s Park is a native soil and sand-based field. In addition, the ideal candidate would have the knowledge and experience to maintain native and non-native desert landscape.

Primary Job Duties:
The Turf Maintenance Technician will have the daily responsibilities, without limitation, to include the following:

  • Lawn and turf maintenance including mowing & edging.
  • Re-sod projects to include digging out worn out sod and replacing sod as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections of irrigation systems to identify and resolve any issues.
  • Event load in/load out assistance including setting roadways for high traffic spots, and hand watering areas to eliminate stressing from irrigation lapses.
  • Assist with drainage projects such as installing seepage pits and drainage tile sin wet areas.
  • Facilitate installation and removal of grow blankets.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Paint field markings and logos on Lawn C and the stadium field.
  • Calibrate rates and apply fertilizer and seed on turf areas.
  • Operate machinery such as walk behind and tractor driven aerators and dethatching equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED and two years of education in turf management, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of turf management experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being able to be collaborative and team oriented.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of eight (8) to twelve (12) hours in length.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity around professional athletes in their work environment.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work on event days including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must complete all pre-employment forms and successfully pass a background check.
