Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Sports Turf Operations is responsible for performing a variety of duties to include oversight of the sports turf operations unit, exterior landscaping, and fleet vehicle and equipment maintenance. The position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Ability to work irregular hours including some nights, weekends, holidays required.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Science, Turf Grass science, Biology, Sports Management, or related field
  • At least seven years experience in athletic field and turf management
  • At least five years experience in supervisory/leadership capacity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing multiple NCAA caliber fields across multiple sports
  • Arkansas certified pesticide license in the categories necessary to meet all EPA and State laws and regulations pertaining to Sports Turf Management or the ability to obtain within six months of employment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of athletic events, facilities, and organized activities
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and organize staff daily
  • Ability to communicate across various stakeholders (Admin, Coaches, staff)
  • Ability to build maintenance activity schedules
  • Ability to walk multiple venues
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of commercial grade turf and lawn care equipment
  • Ability to forecast an annual budget
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather
