Job Summery 

This summer internship position is for a degree seeking student studying Turf Management. This position will be responsible for working alongside the Sports Turf Specialist will be assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of the University of Michigan Soccer Complex natural grass fields, Lacrosse Stadium artificial turf field and, The Track and Field Complex natural grass fields

• Varied schedules required.
• Some weekends and holidays are expected based on event schedule.
• Hours range from 30-40 per week.
• Pay is $19/hr.

• May-August
• Exact dates are flexible based on school schedule

Required Qualifications

• Current degree seeking student, studying turf maintenance at an accredited institution.
• Prior experience in turf maintenance or related experience. Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including, pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling, reaching, etc.
• Must have the ability to meet the requirements of operating a UM Vehicle.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Understanding of NCAA and Big Ten Compliance rules.
• Understanding of OSEH Safety Programs.
• Ability to work nights, evenings, and weekends.

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience working within a Division I University environment.
• Experience working with the public dealing with a wide range of customers.

Responsibilities*

• Assist with turf cultivation on at the Michigan Soccer Complex, and Track and Field Complex.
• Assist in lawn, tree, shrub maintenance, around the natural grass playing surfaces.
• Safe operation of a push mower, string trimmer, utility cart, and road vehicles.
• Irrigation System Checks.
• Complete all assigned/related Grounds maintenance duties.
• Provide support for University of Michigan practices, and sporting events at the Soccer Complex.
• Ensure proper condition of equipment and tools used during daily operation and maintenance checks.
• Assist grounds crew for outdoor lacrosse, soccer, and track and field events.
• Responsible for the organization of mechanical spaces, storage rooms, loading docks, maintenance shops, and any other operational spaces.
• Other duties as assigned by Facility Manager and Facility Specialists.
