Position Summary:
The Grounds Worker is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and care of all playing fields and landscaped areas at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex. This position supports the Turf Director in maintaining safe, high-quality playing surfaces and well-kept grounds year-round.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Turfgrass management coursework or certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in turf, landscape, or grounds maintenance.
- Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience operating both light and large turf equipment (mowers, blowers, etc.).
- Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule — may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in sports turf or golf course maintenance.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and turf care equipment.
- Familiarity with Turf Tank marking robots or other sports field marking systems.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
Responsibilities:
- Support the Director of Turf and Turf Manager in daily operations.
- Perform and assist with mowing, seeding, irrigation, aeration, fertilization, and topdressing.
- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor irrigation systems and assist with repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment service.
- Ensure fields are kept safe, playable, and visually appealing at all times.
- Participate in setup and support for events and tournaments.
