The scoreboard on the Houston Astrodome read “You are about to witness an historic event,” on March 21, 1966, to commemorate the first Major League Baseball game played on a synthetic surface.
More than 55 years later, AstroTurf continues to mark that historic day with AstroTurf Day, celebrating its history and milestones as well as the future.
The second annual AstroTurf Day was held March 21, 2022.
