The City of Savannah is seeking a dedicated and experienced Parks Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team in maintaining the city’s beloved parks and squares. Essential Job Functions
What You’ll Do:
As a Parks Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll take the lead on:
- Supervising and mentoring staff: Direct work assignments, provide guidance, and manage performance.
- Planning and coordinating landscaping projects, irrigation work, pesticide applications, and beautification efforts.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal maintenance regulations.
- Managing contracts and vendor relationships: From coordinating contractors to reviewing and approving invoices.
- Working with the public: Respond to citizen concerns, conduct site visits, and ensure top-quality customer service.
- Overseeing projects: From installing landscaping features to implementing in-house upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
- Maintaining records: Submit timesheets, incident reports, work logs, and more to ensure accountability and transparency.
- Responding to emergencies after hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, or similar education plus four (4) years of experience in landscaping or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
- Requires the following certification/license(s) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment:
- Georgia Commercial Pesticide License, Category 24
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required before employment.
