Working as Athletics Grounds Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the athletic fields & surrounding areas at Palm Beach Atlantic University-RAC. You will be responsible for successfully coordinating all work activities of grounds personnel. You must also supervise, direct, and develop hourly employees in accordance with company guidelines, & ensure customer satisfaction through high quality standards, while maintaining an environment that is safe & equitable.
In the Athletic Grounds Manager role, you will be responsible for assigning duties, inspecting work to include athletic field management, irrigation systems & landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees an effective, proactive, detailed management plan for all playing surfaces & common areas.
- Develops & maintains working relationships with client, coaches, umpires, etc.
- Perform daily field inspections, ensuring the safety & quality of the playing surfaces.
- Meets with staff daily to review task completion and future projects.
- Cross trains and develops employees for multiple positions.
- Trains employees in grounds methods, procedures & proper operation of equipment.
- Guides completion on projects to make sure they are completed timely and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of both baseball/softball field management.
- One to two years in a supervisory role in Grounds Management, Golf Course, Athletic Field Management, or service-related field with high customer/client contact required.
- Strong work ethic, intense drive, & initiative for quality and customer service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one & in group situations.
- Ability to engage & motivate staff.
- Understanding of budgeting processes & awareness of profit and loss concepts.
- Excellent administrative &organizational skills & an ability to prioritize.
- Excellent time management skills required.
Physical Demands & Working Environment:
- Required to work long hours, standing, and walking around during athletic seasons & any extra events.
- Sitting, standing, walking reaching with arms & hands, climbing balancing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing pulling, kneeling, or crouching are all part of this position.
- Must be able to handle weather related elements such as rain & heat.
