ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF.
Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University’s mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Manager of Athletics Grounds, this position assists in the day to day operations and management of the grounds crew to ensure the quality and condition of all turf within the Athletics Sports District, while adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the supervision of mowing, painting, infield skin maintenance and mound/home plate repair, turf fertility and irrigation management. Position supervises 7-8 full time salaried staff and 1-2 part time staff or FWS in the absence of the Manager of Athletic Grounds. This position will also contribute in preparing the annual budget submissions.

MINIMUM:
The position requires master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience and valid Florida driver’s license. Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year for year basis.
