SFMA Conference and Exhibition kicks off

The 32nd annual SFMA Conference and Exhibition, being held virtually this year, kicked off January 12 and continues January 13, with bonus conference continuing education being held Jan. 19, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, Feb. 9, Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 2.

The Conference and Exhibition features education presented by top academics and practitioners, entertainment, keynote, welcome reception, Annual Meeting, awards presentation, virtual trade show hall, networking and chat rooms.

Tuesday’s schedule began with a General Session Town Hall on the state of the industry, and features afternoon concurrent sessions on the following topics: Prioritizing Field Operations with Reduced Labor and Budget; Establishing Cool-Season Turfgrasses from Seed; The Mathematics of Tank Mixing for Sports Field Management; and MLB Field Operations in 2020 and 2021. The annual Welcome Reception and Student Challenge Winner Recognition round out the day’s events.

Wednesday’s schedule features morning concurrent sessions on topics such as soil testing, after-cut appearance, pest management and communication. 

Wednesday afternoon is highlighted by the keynote address presented by leadership trainer Pete Smith and is titled, “Dare to Matter: How Sports Field Professionals Rise to Significance.”

Wednesday’s schedule wraps with the SFMA Annual Meeting and awards presentation.
