The Foundation for Safer Athletic Fields for Everyone (SAFE), which is SFMA’s charity, will open its research grant process on Oct. 1.
The grant is for research that benefits the sports field management industry in field maintenance or performance as it relates to the safety of the playing surface for athletes. The study may be directed towards but is not limited to turfgrass health, uniformity, wear tolerance, hardness, athlete injuries, field temperatures, etc.
The grant amount is $30,000 and the SAFE Research Committee may award it as a lump sum or fund multiple projects depending upon the projects submitted and benefit to the profession.
SAFE’s ability to provide this grant is due to a generous donation from the NC SFMA, one of the SFMA’s affiliated chapters. The NC SFMA would like to call upon other chapters to join them in helping to support the research initiative of SAFE. If you are interested in joining them in their support, contact SFMAinfo@SFMA.org.
