Steve Cockerham, Emeritus Superintendent of the University of California, Riverside Field Station and SFMA’s sixth President passed away Dec. 30.
He was instrumental in developing the sports turf research program at the University of California, Riverside Field Station and was a pioneer in developing techniques, equipment and processes for sports turf managers across the southwestern United States. He lead the SFMA in its infancy in 1989 and stayed involved in volunteer service for many years.
