GDPR – Effective May 25!

What is the GDPR?
It is the General Data Protection Regulation, and it affects all EU citizens no matter where they are living now (EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK). It basically requires organizations to document the personal data it holds on EU residents, where it came from, who it is shared with, and implement specific privacy policies, opt-in policies for receipt of information from SFMA and much more. Takes effect on May 25. More information regarding the GDPR can be found here.

What changes will SFMA Members be seeing?
SFMA will be doing its due diligence to make sure our members know our policies when it comes to the information you share with us. You may notice additions to email templates, conference registration, membership forms and within the website. As the implementation date of May 25 drawers nearer, we ask that our membership helps us with filling out various “opt-in” selections on these forms when presented with it. If you have any questions on our current policies, please visit our privacy policy information here.
